Singapore ranks 4th in GCI 2019.
Singapore’s high rank is due to strong scores in digital infrastructure and industry connectivity,
especially relating to ICT expenditure, the percentage of population covered by mobile networks, ICT
access and usage, smartphone penetration rate, and ICT laws. It has laid a solid foundation to
support growing demand for high-end technologies such as cloud computing, AI, and IoT.
Singapore is far ahead of other ASEAN countries and above the global average with its indicators. It
has improved this year in e-commerce development, secured servers, cloud migration, and AI
development. Early adopters of business cloud services include wholesale and retail commerce, the
hospitality sector, and the real estate industry.
