Bolivia’s National Broadband Plan is a four-year plan that recognizes the importance of the development and availability of broadband services to Bolivia’s GDP. It is shaping several sectors, both public and private, to ensure their effective development and aims to increase the use of broadband until 2020. Guidelines for the development and expansion of transport networks at the national level include lines of action, and incentives in the regulations for the development of broadband Internet services. They will achieve this through future infrastructure, services, and digital adoption projects defined to achieve: 1) 50% of households connected to broadband Internet services; 2) 90% of educational establishments with Internet access; 3) 100% of target localities connected through the Bolivian trunk network; 4) 100% of health facilities in target areas and municipal capitals with access to broadband Internet. The development of broadband will be governed by the principles of accessibility, network neutrality, and up-to-date infrastructure and technological innovation. The government will be responsible for the coordination, evaluation, and monitoring of the plan.
