Belarus ranks 47th in GCI 2019.
Belarus has shown improvement in its investment in FTTH and 4G, which was matched by its maximum
score for Internet use and mobile broadband subscriptions. It also achieved a 1-point increase in
smartphone penetration. Belarus has started to develop cloud services and offer e-government
services.
As it generates more data, Belarus needs to maintain the performance, availability, and scalability
of its applications, while minimizing storage costs per gigabyte. Software along with cloud
computing will be crucial in meeting the service needs of today's businesses and end users. There
should also be more focus on further investment in security, cloud and IoT - areas in which Belarus
currently falls behind the global average.
