Poland ranks 36th in the GCI 2019.
Poland received the full possible score for mobile broadband and has made progressive improvements
in both smartphone penetration and 4G investment. Mobile broadband affordability already achieved
the full score last year, but fixed broadband affordability has declined. Poland is a middling
performer with scores above the global average across the board.
The advent and growth of high-tech enablers could be the next focus for Poland to develop its ICT
sector. It is important to attract more telecommunications companies that can offer services to
their customers. Small, medium, and large enterprises throughout Poland will adopt advanced
technology to maximize their profits and streamline operations. Core areas to target will be the
development of digital infrastructure for the 5G era, joint investments in technologies like IoT,
Blockchain, and AI, and deeper strategic and tactical partnerships to tackle cyber threats and
disinformation.
