Kenya ranks 72nd in GCI 2019.
This year's scores for 4G investment, smartphone penetration, and mobile broadband subscribers all
improved, but most GCI indicators remain below the global average in 2019. As a starter in the early
stages of ICT development, Kenya’s focus should be on infrastructure construction. Its growth
prospects will also depend on digital innovation and digital governance if it is to achieve rapid
and sustained growth. Kenya needs fast-track planning and implementation of information and
communication technologies to deliver Internet services more efficiently.
