Victor Chen, Executive of Green Transformation, Huawei
Digital power and ICT technologies are playing an increasingly important role in achieving climate change and net-zero city goals. This has become a common understanding in the industry, and effective progress is being made.
Traditional copper networks are being replaced by optical fiber, to reduce energy consumption, and many data centers are being reconstructed with innovative technologies to reduce the PUE (the lower the Power Usage Effectiveness number, the better the energy use efficiency).
In mines and ports, using 5G+IoT technology, many large trucks and engineering vehicles are being replaced by electric, driverless vehicles.
More and more campuses use photovoltaic and digital power technologies to reduce power consumption, and even build zero-carbon campuses.
Telecom operators focus on network energy efficiency optimization.
And standards play an important role during these explorations and practices. With the joint efforts of ITU, ISO, IEC and GSMA, 3GPP, Huawei have helped shape many industry standards and we are actively promoting the implementation of these standards.
Drawing on 36 years of experience and expertise, Huawei has become the world leader in telecom infrastructure supply. At the same time, we are committed to making a significant contribution to green development. Huawei has long pursued a strategy for achieving a greener, low-carbon and more sustainable ICT industry. The concept of Huawei green industry development is: Green ICT, ICT and Digital Power for Green, and Innovation for Green.
As a leader in the ICT and digital power sector, Huawei has always prioritized innovation - not just to stay one technological step ahead, but also to foster sustainability. We pay close attention to design and producing greener products and solutions, harnessing them towards the global green transition and future net-zero target.
To drive sustainability, we actively cooperate with many important worldwide organizations and industry stakeholders, such as UNFCCC-GIH, UTM, GeSI, ITU-T, ETSI, CCSA and AFNOR. And we work side-by-side with our many influential partners and customers, combining our strengths in domains like networking, cloud, storage, and energy. ICT and digitalization are catalysts for green development.
Therefore, we are delighted to see the Green Initiative becoming more widespread. We hope it can inspire more and more tangible industry advances and encourage collaborative approaches in future. Green projects are making a positive difference and we believe digital power and ICT enablement can build on that success, adding real value to future net-zero city infrastructure construction. By working together, sharing knowledge, and driving innovation, we can make significant strides towards the realization of net-zero cities and building a truly sustainable future for all.
