We have upgraded the GCI, and created the GDI – the Global Digitalization Index. The GDI measures the maturity of a country's ICT industry by factoring in more indicators for digital infrastructure, including computing, storage, cloud, and green energy. It quantifies the value of each country's ICT industry and its impact on their national economy to help them make more informed decisions about the digital economy.
The GDI measures the digitalization progress of 77 countries using 42 indicators under the four crucial enablers: Ubiquitous Connectivity, Digital Foundation, Green Energy, and Policy & Ecosystem. This research covers countries representing a total of 93% of the world's GDP and encompassing 80% of the global population, meaning it gives a good indication of the general progress in global digital transformation.
