Authoritative UK Organization Recognizes Code and Build Engineering of Huawei OLT Product MA5800

Dec 30, 2019

[Shenzhen, China, December 30, 2019] Huawei's optical line terminal (OLT) product MA5800 was recently analyzed by another authoritative UK organization. In its security assessment report, the organization praised the MA5800's firmware highly, noting the high-quality software code and reproducible build capability of the firmware. This is further recognition by another authoritative organization in the UK for equipment security one month after Huawei obtained ISO/IEC 27701 certification issued by the British Standards Institution (BSI) in the first batch globally.

This report compares the code quality, reproducible build capability, and binary equivalence of the current and previous versions of the MA5800. The report concluded that the current version has significantly improved in code maintainability metrics, output of static analysis tools, use of open-source software, compiler security option, build process engineering, reproducible build capability, and compiler alarm handling. For details about the analysis method and comparison result, see the original report.

As one of Huawei's key products in the passive optical network (PON) field, the MA5800 has been commercially deployed on a large scale by more than 50 carriers worldwide, driving local networks to enter the gigabit access era.
