Huawei and Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies sign 2-year MoU for ICT cooperation

[Yangon, Myanmar, 22 April, 2019] Huawei, a leading global provider of ICT infrastructure and smart devices, and the Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies (Fed. MES) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support efforts to improve the capability of Myanmar engineers, especially for the younger generation, and to jointly promote the development and release of indoor coverage and FTTH standards. A special ceremony for the MoU’s signing was held at the Huawei CSIC Hall on 22nd April 2019.

The Fed. MES is the first association formed for engineers in Myanmar, with its membership open to all engineers in the country. Constituted in 1927 based on the Myanmar Engineering Congress, the Fed. MES has been providing training courses and support for Myanmar engineers, and also cooperates with universities for internship programs.

Federation of Myanmar Engineering Societies and Huawei is committed to work together with governments, telecom operators, property developers, industry analyst firms and other influential organizations to implement indoor digital transformation. According to the MoU, they agreed to jointly hold a long-term indoor coverage digitalization summit and other relevant initiatives in Myanmar, as well as assist in the promotion, operation and implementation of indoor coverage and FTTH standards. The Fed. MES will also be collaborating with Huawei in specific areas of development including the implementation of the cloud, e-learning, certification programs and for internship programs.

Both parties are committed to synergize our capabilities to make a lasting positive impact on the countries ICT growth.”

MES and Huawei have agreed to cooperate to uplift the level of the nation’s future generation of engineers.  We are pleased to be having Huawei, a global leader in ICT, as a partner to develop Myanmar’s overall capability in this field, in accordance with the terms of this MoU. We will also be jointly organizing the Myanmar Indoor Coverage Digitalization Summit, through which we will promote the implementation of indoor digital transformation and explore the relevant trends and topics of new indoor coverage digitalization. Huawei has been a committed supporter of Myanmar’s ICT sector, organizing several annual programs including its Seeds for the Future global campaign, in which promising Myanmar college students are sent to China for capacity development, its ICT Talent Scholarship programs for the 50 best performing college students each term, and through an internship program which offers valuable working experience to young technological university students. Huawei also signed an ICT Talent Development MoU with Rector's Committee last year, as it strengthens its involvement towards building a digital future for the country.
