Huawei, Care Myanmar donated food supplies to Bago State where 10 cities are affected by the most critical flood

Yangon, Myanmar (3 August 2018) – Huawei donated food supplies including rice, total value equivalent to 57.6 million kyats to flood victims of Bago state through its “ Care Myanmar” program at 2nd August since there has been a severe flood and general inundating in 10 cities of Bago State where 102,809 people are displaced. This donation is Huawei’s second support for flood victims in Myanmar follows the donation of provisions and life jackets to Ye city, Mon state in June.

Due to recent and unrelenting rainstorms, there are floods all across the country. However, this flood in Bago State is said to be the most critical in 18 years. Evacuation orders are still in place across Bago State and state government has opened 204 flood relief centers for temporary shelter across Bago state.

Huawei would like to be a part of the helping hands and therefore, donated 1500 packs of rice, 19200 bottles of water and 36000 packets of instant noodles which have the total value of 57.6 million kyats

Mr. Zhang Liman, CEO of Huawei Myanmar said, “Our thoughts are with the families whose lives have been impacted by the floods. So, we would like to express our concern to the society where we operate our business with our contribution. We provided relief to victims in Mon State by donating emergency supplies like foods and life jackets. This time, we show our support for the victims in Bago State to relief from flooding through state government. As a responsible corporate citizen, we will keep contributing to Myanmar society as many possible ways as we could. I am hoping that water levels will start to recede and pray for the good recovery aftermath of floods.”
U Nyunt Shwe, minister of Planning and Finance accepted the food supplies donated by Huawei on behalf of Bago Region Government. “Now Regional Disaster Management Office are systematically collecting and organizing the donated supplies and relief materials for the flood victims. Then we will distribute those supplies directly and equally to each victims. I would like to say thank you on behalf of Bago Region Government to Huawei for donating the food supplies. I also wish Huawei become more successful in future” said U Nyunt Shwe, minister of Planning and Finance of Bago Region Government.
