Sunrise Achieves High Scores in Leading Independent Mobile Benchmark Test with Huawei Solutions
[Shenzhen, China, Dec. 21, 2015] Sunrise has been named as the No. 1 for mobile voice telephony for the second time in a row with the legacy circuit switched voice service, according to the most recent mobile benchmark test by independent magazine Connect. This was achieved with Huawei's innovative UMTS voice solutions.
The independent mobile benchmark test was performed by the leading European telecommunications magazine Connect together with network optimization consulting company on a yearly basis, covering mobile networks in Germany-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). From the Connect test report, Sunrise's mobile network test rating is "very good" (448 points), gaining 92 points for the past three years since 2012, and the result "would not be achievable without continuous network expansion and enhancements."
In 2012, Sunrise changed technology partner and chose Huawei to continue its commitment to providing the best-of-class network service and user experience to its end users through strategic investment in three network quality focuses: enhancing indoor coverage, and speeding up LTE coverage, and improving voice quality. For indoor coverage, Sunrise deploys 900 MHz to further enhance 3G indoor coverage. For 4G/LTE, Sunrises significantly increased 4G/LTE coverage in 2015 and intends to reach 98% coverage by the end of this year. By introducing LTE-Advanced, Sunrise is the only provider in Europe with inter-site carrier aggregation.
In particular, to continuously improve voice service experience, Sunrise has introduced a series of innovative Huawei UMT solutions (such as Adaptive Multi Rate Wide Band and Seamless Crystal Voice solutions) and achieved voice quality of over 3.77 on Mean Opinion Score (MOS). The highest ranking on voice achieved with the legacy circuit switched voice service proves that UMTS network, as the foundation of mobile broadband (MBB) network, is essential in providing high-quality voice and data services for 3G users and guaranteeing consistent user experience for 4G fallback users.
"In the 2015 connect test, Sunrise showed for 3rd time in row the highest quality improvement on the Swiss market," says Elmar Grasser, Chief Operating Officer of Sunrise, "Further Sunrise achieved the highest ranking on voice services in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and will continue its successful cooperation with its technology partner Huawei."
Haijun Xiao, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Switzerland says, "Thanks for Sunrise’s trust by selecting Huawei as single vendor on building radio network and providing the managed service, the reality has shown that we successfully achieved a win-win cooperation in the past 3 years. Huawei will continue to leverage the strength we have pioneered in telecom industry, through continuous technology innovation and high-quality service delivery, to support Sunrise’s vision to create the best end-user experience for further success."
In the future, Huawei will continue to provide innovative products and solutions to further empower the foundation of MBB network - UMTS network, helping operators to improve the network quality and user experience while meeting growing demands for MBB services.
