South Pacific Small Cell Summit: Welcoming the More Adequate Telecommunications Network by Using Huawei’s Small Cell Technology
[Jakarta, Indonesia, September 17, 2015] Huawei today conducted a prestigious international conference “South Pacific Small Cell Summit 2015”. Took place at Crowne Plaza Hotel Jakarta and attended by more than 150 industry leaders and experts from global operators in Indonesia, this event mainly discussed about solutions to improve the network quality of service and user experience by using small cell technology.
According to a Julian Bright, Senior Analyst at Ovum, small cell technology is an ideal solution for increasing network capacity, especially in bad coverage places or during peak-traffic hours. Small cells can also reduce the cost of deployment, support plug-and-play deployment and evolution to LAA, and create new business opportunities driven by the technology’s navigation capability.

Using “Building a Better Connected World” as its theme, this conference raised several topics regarding indoor and outdoor user experience improvement, indoor digital-oriented business, innovations in the industry, and new business cooperation models. Various leading operators in Indonesia such as Telkom, Telkomsel, and Tri (3) also shared the information regarding small cell technology and their cooperation with Huawei.
In the event, Huawei also launched LampSite 2.0, a small cell solution from its latest innovation. LampSite 2.0 offers strong network capacity and clear voice quality. This solution is able to significantly increase data transfer rate and boosts spectral utilization using 256QAM. LampSite 2.0 provides a higher capacity than its predecessor, supports random line up of three concurrent frequencies, and allowing one-time deployment for long-term evolution. Not only that, LampSite 2.0 also has interesting features such as support for smooth upgrade to Licensed-Assisted Access (LAA) solutions enabling operators usage of non-licensed spectrum.

We must strive to improve solutions on how to reduce blank spots, especially on public buildings with the most traffic load distribution, as the first priority for target deployment that will bring high impact on user experience. We realized that end users in Indonesia still experience data conjunction and bad coverage, both inside and outside of buildings, especially in high-traffic spots such as stadiums, airports, railway stations, and commercial buildings. It’s a big challenge, which also comes with big opportunities for us.”
