Huawei Hosts Quality Brand Mobile Broadband Summit 2015 to Drive Development of Best-In-Class Mobile Broadband Networks

Jun 04, 2015

[Istanbul, Turkey, June 1, 2015] Huawei recently hosted its Quality Brand Mobile Broadband (MBB) Summit 2015 in Istanbul from May 21-22, bringing together 36 telecom operators from across the Middle East and North Africa, Central Asia, and Russia to exchange ideas on building best-in-class MBB networks.

With the number of MBB subscribers rapidly growing, operators are facing challenges maintaining high quality services for customers. Along these lines, streaming services will occupy 70% of total traffic in 2016 according to research by Huawei Open Lab. During the Huawei Quality Brand MBB Summit, dedicated seminars and panel discussions encouraged attendees to address the current challenges with improving service quality, reducing operational expenditure, and meeting growing customer demands. Industry experts Emir Halilovic, Research Director at IDC, and Anil Rao, Senior Analyst at Analysys Mason, also provided attendees with their insights on industry organization, trends, benchmarking, network performance measuring, and methods for improving customer experience.

Speaking at the summit, Dr. Leroy G. Blimegger Jr, Senior Vice President, Global Technical Services, Huawei, said, “Operators seeking to build quality brand networks must focus on the customer experience in streaming services and continuously test their networks to benchmark their performance. Complex testing requirements add to the pressures and challenges operators face. During key event scenarios, it is critical for operators to achieve the target performance indexes however they bring different requirements for networks.”

Adel Dekali, Operations Director, Optimum Telecom Algeria, said, “As not all operators are at the same stage developing their network, the Huawei Quality Brand MBB Summit provided a platform for the 36 attending operators to share their experience and knowledge. OTA seeks to provide our customers with a superior service experience, and through the summit we have collaborated with telecom operators across four key regions to share our ideas and experiences.”

Amir Halilovic, Research Director, IDC, said, “In the MBB era, customer experience and network quality are the top priorities for telecom operators. Under pressure from fierce competition and with targets for reducing operation expenditure, effective investment is essential for telecom operators. At the Huawei Quality Brand MBB Summit, we discussed matching network investment and network quality characteristics as these areas are a key focus for the operator.”
