One Health Vision helps medical patients manage their own healthcare

Dr. Vincenzo Ciccarese, Cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist and CEO, One Health Vision

What is One Health Vision?

One Health Vision is a medium-sized company based in Rome and Lecce, Italy that develops, produces, and markets products and services in the field of digital health. In particular, we focus on applications for the treatment of disorders that require the support of a dedicated digital, medical, and technical consulting service for patients, caregivers, and professionals in the field.

The products designed and developed by One Health Vision (OHV) are innovative because they allow patients to autonomously manage and treat their conditions and disorders. The products use advanced technologies including AI to provide new types of inputs for monitoring and measuring patient performance, enhancing treatment and rehabilitation. Insight, innovation, and clinical experience account for One Health Vision’s growth.

What is your mission and how does it fit into the Digital Therapeutics (DTx) sector?

One Health Vision's mission is to improve patients’ quality of life through the development of innovative digital therapeutic solutions. In the Digital Therapeutics sector, we focus on creating evidence-based applications that support and enhance the treatment of various conditions, contributing to the management and prevention of diseases.

How can big tech companies like Huawei contribute to the development of Digital Therapeutics (DTx)?

In the healthcare sector, there is a trend called “shifting care downstream” – from hospitals to clinics and primary care physicians, and, ultimately, into patients’ homes and pockets.

This shift is taking various forms. Specialist solutions, such as RapidAI for stroke care, enable doctors at less-specialized hospitals to benefit from AI-powered decision support. Technologies like TrackAI, which can detect visual impairments in babies as young as six months (and was developed by Huawei and startup DIVE-Medical), move care very close to the patient, as TrackAI is easy to use, portable, and affordable. The impact of this downstream shift is manifested by one key phenomenon: the rise of mobile health applications and DTx, such as those developed by One Health Vision (OHV).

Meanwhile, tech giants including Amazon, Google, and Apple see healthcare as an attractive opportunity for expansion. This is why I truly believe Huawei can very positively contribute to the development of DTx, in particular innovative rehabilitation solutions, just as it did with TrackAI.

What are the main products developed by One Health Vision?

We have developed several digital solutions covering areas such as cognitive deficit rehabilitation, including memory, executive functions, language, verbal dyspraxia, attention and visuospatial functions, aphasia and dysarthria, mental health, and rehabilitation of eating disorders, selective eating disorder in autism, treatment of language delay, stuttering therapy, etc.

Each of our products is designed to easily integrate into patients' daily lives, offering continuous and personalized support through mobile apps and online platforms.

How do your DTx differ from traditional therapies?

Our DTx offer a complementary and, in some cases, alternative approach to traditional therapies. They use advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence to provide continuous monitoring, real-time feedback, and personalized interventions, making the treatment more dynamic and responsive compared to conventional therapies.

What are the main benefits that patients can expect from your solutions?

Patients can benefit from greater adherence to treatment, constant health monitoring, and personalized support that can lead to better clinical outcomes. Additionally, our solutions often help reduce the stress and anxiety associated with managing chronic diseases, improving overall well-being.

What is the impact of your DTx on the healthcare market?

Our solutions have the potential to revolutionize the healthcare market by offering more effective and personalized treatments, reducing costs for healthcare systems, and improving access to care. DTx can also reduce the need for in-person medical visits, alleviating the pressure on healthcare services.

How do you ensure the safety and efficacy of your DTx?

Each of our solutions is developed in collaboration with clinical experts and researchers and undergoes rigorous clinical trials to ensure safety and efficacy. We follow current regulations and adopt high standards of data protection to ensure our users' privacy and security.

What challenges have you faced in developing your solutions and how have you overcome them?

One of the main challenges has been integrating technology with clinical needs and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. We have overcome these challenges by working closely with medical professionals and regulatory bodies, investing significantly in research and development, and maintaining a patient-centered approach.

What are One Health Vision's future plans to expand its offerings?

We are working to expand our range of DTx to new therapeutic areas such as neurodegenerative diseases and chronic pain. Additionally, we are exploring opportunities to integrate our solutions with wearable devices and other emerging technologies to further enhance the patient experience.

How do you see the evolution of the Digital Therapeutics sector in the next 5-10 years?

We believe the DTx sector will see exponential growth, with increasing adoption by patients and healthcare professionals. DTx will become an integral part of treatment plans, offering personalized, data-driven solutions that will significantly improve clinical outcomes and the sustainability of healthcare systems.

How can the healthcare system benefit from adopting your solutions?

Adopting our DTx can lead to more efficient management of healthcare resources, reducing hospital admissions and unnecessary visits. Additionally, by improving treatment adherence and disease self-management by patients, we can help reduce overall costs and improve the quality of care.
