Protecting Yucatan fauna
Covering nearly 10 million hectares, the jungles of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula are the largest forest in Latin America. They contain rich biodiversity.
Huawei’s Tech4Nature works with the Government of Yucatan, Polytechnic University of Yucatan, International Union for Protection of Nature, and Rainforest Connection to protect this green Eden. The partners have installed in Yucatan’s Dzilam State Reserve weather-proofed sound monitors and cameras that collect data that is then uploaded to the cloud to be processed with artificial intelligence. The reports generated help create better-calibrated nature conservation strategies.
