Huawei sets up smart classroom in central Nepal village
(Feb. 2025) For generations, students in the remote villages of Gandaki Province in central Nepal have had limited access to educational resources. Until recently, they still relied on traditional chalkboards and notebooks as their sole means of learning. But change is underway. The implementation of a smart networked classroom is unlocking new possibilities for students who had faced barriers to quality education.
This video shows how technology has changed education in this remote Gandaki village
Huawei Nepal has introduced a Smart Classroom Initiative that is reshaping education in the mountainous country. Featuring Huawei IdeaHubs, laptops, desktops, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and other modern learning tools, the project upgrades the classroom, providing students with the tools they need to thrive in a technology-driven world. The project was made possible with the support of the Chinese Ministry of Communication and the Embassy of China, utilizing Huawei's solutions and equipment. It was delivered in a particularly remote part of Nepal, where the logistical challenges are daunting.
Instead of chalk-and-talk methods, pupils now have access to interactive digital lessons, remote learning opportunities, and a wealth of information at their fingertips. The integration of technology has not only made learning more engaging and effective but has connected these students to the world outside their village, giving them access to global knowledge and skills.

The village in Gandaki Province is particularly isolated
With network access to the world beyond the mountains, students now enjoy the ability to learn the latest on diverse subjects, participate in online classes, and gain valuable skills that equip them for the demands of the global economy. What was once a distant dream is now within their reach, as Huawei’s technology bridges the gap between rural and urban education, ensuring that students are no longer limited by geography or financial constraints.

Huawei’s contribution to the Smart Classroom initiative directly supports the Digital Nepal Framework, which envisions a country where technology is accessible to everyone, including those in rural and remote regions. This project isn’t just about technology—it’s about empowering youth with the digital literacy and resources they need to succeed in the modern world.
This initiative is a powerful example of Huawei’s commitment to using technology as a force for positive change in society. Huawei is helping Nepal build a stronger, more sustainable digital infrastructure, but the true impact lies in the lives it has touched: children who now have the chance to pursue education in new, innovative ways and unlock opportunities that were once unimaginable.

Setting up the Smart Classroom at the remote village entailed marshalling all available means
By partnering with the Chinese embassy, Nepal government agencies, and local communities, Huawei is not only supporting Nepal’s journey toward becoming a fully digital nation but is also creating transformative opportunities for the youth of Nepal. This initiative is about much more than installing equipment—it’s about creating life-changing opportunities for the next generation of Nepali leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs.
Huawei’s work in Gandaki Province stands as a testament to how technology can change lives, transform communities, and create opportunities where they once didn’t exist. This is just the beginning of Huawei’s journey to empower Nepal’s youth with digital education and build a sustainable, connected, and inclusive digital future for all.
