Malaysia's largest state sees benefits of digitalization

(March 2024) As recently as 2017, people in Sarawak, Malaysia, were asking, “The digital economy: what’s it all about?” 

They might not have been sure of the facts, but they knew it was important. 

So did their leaders, says Sudarnoto Osman, CEO of the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC).

In an interview with Huawei Editor-in-Chief Gavin Allen at MWC Barcelona 2024, Sudarnoto says that when Covid hit, Sarawak’s 2.9 million citizens really began to see the benefits of digitalization. 

Now, Sarawak’s even got digital training centers – including one run by Huawei.
