Science fiction author Nnedi Okorafor: AI should support creative artists, not replace them

(November 2023) Nnedi Okorafor, winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and other prestigious awards for science fiction, spoke at this year's World Science Fiction Convention in Chengdu, China, in October.

In this interview with Huawei Editor-in-Chief Gavin Allen, she predicts that artificial intelligence will be used to replace writers and other creative artists and expects that it will produce a best-selling novel one day.

But she doesn't feel threatened by AI.  The emerging technology will also tackle problems that have so far proved too hard for humans to solve alone such as climate change or the ever rising cost of healthcare.
