Science fiction puts a human perspective on advancing technology

(December 2023) Author Jeremy Szal says science fiction and fantasy are about more than just tech. “Poverty, money, family issues, mental health issues” and more are woven into his stories about future societies. 

Meanwhile another writer, David Wesley Hill, quotes sci-fi legend Ray Bradbury, as saying he didn’t want to predict the future but to prevent it. 

At the latest meeting of the World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) in Chengdu, China, Huawei Editor-in-Chief Gavin Allen spoke with both writers, asking about how closely science fiction is keeping pace with real-life advances in technology.
