Entel Peru joins hands with Huawei to complete the first overseas commercial use of dual-band AAU
[Lima, Peru, July 25, 2024] Entel Peru has deployed Huawei's 2.3GHz+3.5GHz dualband AAU on a 5G network, marking a first-time commercial use of the innovative solution outside China. The deployment conclusively demonstrated how the technology simplifies the deployment of TDD (time duplex division) multiband networks.
First commercial Entel 2.3GHz+3.5GHz dualband AAU site in Peru
After dualband AAUs are deployed, Entel's network achieves No.1 commercial peak experience in Peru. By using dualband AAUs, Entel's network coverage will improve by 30%, the average power consumption of its base stations will come down by 30%, and the company will no longer need to rent antennas. Such performance improvement not only help operators significantly reduce operating expenses (OPEX), but also enable them to achieve the lowest possible overall total cost of ownership (TCO), build high-quality green 5G networks, and accelerate the large-scale deployment of 5G in Peru.
Huawei’s dual-band AAUs integrate the Pano-Radio series solution to address the problem of high OPEX, especially the antenna overhead, which is commonly faced by carriers. This radio solution uses the three-dimensional large-angle beam technology to improve the number and quality of connections and build a 5G network with continuous experience in all scenarios. The dualband integration technology breaks through four technical problems: dualband high-density ELAA large array layout, dualband power transmission time interval (TTI)-level coordinated scheduling, dualband independent remote adjustment, and ultimate sleep.
This commercial deployment of the industry's most powerful 2.3GHz+3.5GHz dualband AAU achieves three network benefits: First, simplified deployment (1 + 1 = 1): antennas do not increase, rentals do not increase, and dimensions remain unchanged, fronthaul does not need to be modified, reducing rentals. Second, energy efficiency optimization (1 + 1 ≤ 1): Dualband integration does not increase power consumption and electricity fees. Third, performance improvement (1 + 1 > 2): Dualband coordination improves performance, coverage, user experience, and energy saving.
The brand-new dualband integration technology provides operators with simplified deployment capabilities and achieves quick deployment at one site visit. In addition, Entel uses dualband AAUs to deploy 5G on a large scale, benefiting from the technical dividends of 5G development and enabling consumers to enjoy high-speed services such as mobile HD video and HD live broadcast. The first commercial use of the 2.3 GHz+3.5GHz dualband AAU outside China provides a simpler and more efficient TDD dualband network deployment mode for more operators around the world, accelerating the global popularization of 5G technologies.
