The booming digitalization across the world drives the development of MEC. By providing key capabilities, such as computing, storage, and transmission, in close proximity to users, MEC fuels economic transformation and upgrade. Its rapid growth has caught the attention of the academic and industrial sectors and paves the way for computing and IT system innovation and industrial transformation.

The edge computing community is continuously dedicated to disseminating knowledge and fostering ecosystem development in the field of MEC. Since 2019, the community has released a list of "Top 20 Edge Computing Companies in China" every year with the aim to share the current development, outstanding companies, and innovative products in the field to more people.

As a pioneer in MEC, Huawei holds key positions in multiple industrial organizations, such as 3GPP, ETSI, 5GDNA, ECC, AII, and 5GAIA, and is one of the founders as well as major contributors of the MEC initiative of ISG within ETSI. It strives to promote the standardization of MEC and the construction of mature architectures. In addition to launching the world's first open-source telecom MEC project EdgeGallery, it established the 5G Deterministic Networking Alliance (5GDNA) and helped the alliance officially join the 3GPP MRP. It also initiated the 3GPP R18 5G smart grid framework, defining the E2E standard architecture of the 5G-based smart grid for the first time.

The forerunner points the way to the industrial digital transformation. With its comprehensive MEC products and solutions, Huawei has released multiple white papers on MEC and 5G B2B with industrial partners, such as 5GDN Industry White Paper, Edge Native Technical Architecture White Paper, and 5GtoB Core Network Construction White Paper. In addition, it has held multiple 5G MEC Developer Contests and also won multiple awards regarding MEC home and abroad, achieving a high reputation throughout the industry.

As a leading global 5G supplier, Huawei is eager to work with operators and industrial partners to provide quality networks and unparalleled service experience. It rolled out more than 3000 5G innovative projects covering over 20 industrial fields, such as coal mining, iron and steel production, ports, and manufacturing. With first-prize winning projects awarded at the "Zhan Fang Cup" 5G Application Contest and the "5G Use Cases for Verticals in China" recognized by GSMA for two consecutive years, Huawei has been greatly promoting the development of MEC in China and driving 5G-powered digital transformation.

MEC development requires joint efforts from all partners. Huawei is excited to work with partners to maximize the value of MEC across industries and to build a fully-connected and intelligent world.
