Huawei Mobile Money Platform is awarded Champion in ICT Applications

[Geneva, Switzerland, April 9, 2019] At the recent ITU World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2019, Huawei Mobile Money Platform has been awarded ‘Champion of WSIS Prize 2019 for the Category 8 ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life — e-Business’.

This award marks Huawei contribution in implementing Mobile Money solutions with service providers throughout the world that has created significant positive social impact and contributed to financial inclusions and digitalization. Huawei Mobile Money helps telecoms companies, banks and payment service providers implement mobile financial services which capitalize on Mobile technologies.

The ITU WSIS (World Summit on Information Society) Prizes aim to recognize private or public organization for their outstanding success in implementing development oriented strategies that leverage the power of ICTs as an enabler of the development. The contest was held for the first time in 2012, and rapidly gained attention and popularity within the ICT for Development (ICT4D) community. Building upon the outcomes of the United Nations General Assembly Overall Review on WSIS as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the WSIS Prizes 2019 reflect close linkages with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
