Huawei shows one of the best performances in virtualized EPC ever tested in Telefónica NFV Reference Lab

This result is due to the joint efforts of both companies to identify the best techniques that have improved the performance of the virtualized solution

[Madrid, Spain, May 10, 2016] Huawei and Telefónica have jointly tested Huawei CloudEPC performance, in Telefonica’s NFV (Network Function Virtualization) Reference Lab in Madrid, Spain. To test this solution, it was used OpenMANO stack, which enables the easy creation and deployment of complex network scenarios.

During the test, Huawei’s CloudEPC has shown one of the best performances in both data and signaling planes by good cloud-formation architecture and by using EPA (Enhanced Platform Awareness) technologies. This has been made possible by the cloud-oriented architectures and the use of technology of improved awareness (EPA, Enhanced Awareness Platform) platform.

The achievement is a joint effort by both companies within the Telefonica NFV Reference Lab framework. Huawei and the Spanish telecom operator have collaborated for more than one year to verify different techniques to improve CloudEPC performance, that finally has been improved for 3 times.

Huawei has shown strong openness capability of CloudEPC to be integrated into a multi-vendor NFV environment including NFV and SDN. The company used OpenMANO, Telefónica’s open source MANO, to automatically deploy vEPC in Telefónica Reference Lab on a multivendor NFV infrastructure.

Huawei is a reliable EPC vendor, and a strategic partner of Telefónica collaborating in many NFV areas. During cooperation in our NFV Reference Lab, Huawei has shown strong virtualized EPC capability and good vision of EPC network architecture evolution. In this regard, Huawei has accomplished the automatic deployment of CloudEPC via OpenMANO over multivendor NFV infrastructure in a very short time.”

Huawei CloudEPC maintains the same features as its existing physical version, SingleEPC, inheriting the long-term experience and the advantages of its leadership in communications technology. CloudEPC Huawei has won 16 commercial contracts globally, successfully transferring from technical leadership to market leadership.
