Dec 16, 2015

[Minsk, Belarus, Dec.16, 2015] Huawei today announced that Belarus Telecommunications (Beltelecom) has selected its one-stop smart-home solutions to provide a wealth of smart home business services and applications for users in Belarus. The project calls for reaching 200,000 households, with the first 5000 users enjoying access to home security intelligence, cloud storage, home automation, home digital life and big data. Gradually these services will be available to all users of Beltelecom.

With all things being interconnected, consumer demand for new services, such as home security, home entertainment, high-definition video, home appliance control and so on, will gradually rise. Major operators, device providers, Internet service providers and home appliance manufacturers have all entered the smart home industry, and the industry is enjoying fast developing opportunities.

As the largest communications operator in Belarus, Beltelecom is taking the initiative to deliver innovative business services, choosing the smart home as a future focus in the next five years. Huawei will provide the common smart home platform NetOpen, smart home gateways, and intelligent terminal equipment to Beltelecom to support this initiative.

Currently, Huawei's smart home solutions combine the operators’ pipeline capability and domestic intelligence capability, including smart home gateways, home security, 4K video and home automation and other E2E business innovations. The solution can support smart home connectivity, network on-demand, home appliance interoperability and intelligent service experience assurance.

Huawei has been working with operators to actively expand cooperation and jointly promote development of the smart home business: in May 2014, Huawei and China Telecom Shanghai Research Institute signed a cooperation agreement to develop smart home network services and products. In March 2015, Huawei and the China Unicom Research Institute signed a cooperation agreement on smart home gateway development.
