With the joint aim of building a better mobile experience in Belgium, the partnership will see the creation of a flexible framework that will enable partners to improve their ability to respond to rapidly changing data and voice traffic needs from customers.
Dominique Leroy, CEO of Proximus, said, "We are delighted to have signed this strategic partnership with Huawei focused on innovation. This agreement will ensure the continued development of our network in order to offer the best user experience to our customers."
"We are very pleased to sign this partnership with Proximus. Huawei always pays great attention to the needs of our customers and their end users. Through customer-centric innovation, we are dedicated to building ubiquitous broadband networks and excellent user experiences for our operator customers, to reinforce our position as the best business partner," said Eric Xu, Rotating CEO of Huawei.
The strategic partnership will initially focus on three areas: user experience, mobile coverage and service innovation. Firstly, joint teams involving experts from Proximus and Huawei will work on continuously improving the voice quality, data and video user experience. Secondly, Proximus and Huawei will collaborate for a seamless indoor-to-outdoor experience through innovative solutions, leveraging small cell technologies. Thirdly, the partners will work together to respond to evolving market needs with agile service development and open platforms enabling unlimited digital services and applications driving efficiency and productivity across industries.
The two partners have collaborated since 2009, when Huawei supported Proximus in upgrading its mobile network with its Single Radio Access Network (SingleRAN) solution. The technology enabled the operator to roll out a flexible, cost-effective network, while making available faster connections across Belgium, thereby improving the digital experience for millions of users in the country, and substantially contributing to bridging the digital divide.
