Training the next generation of problem-solvers, one challenge at a time

(November 2025) Huawei's Lianqiu Lake Campus, so vast it has its own railway system, recently was the arena for some of the sharpest minds in global programming.

ICPC champions, professors, and industry experts from 30 countries came to the campus in exurban Shanghai to solve a real-world industrial problem – and they were given just a few hours to do it.

In this episode of Transform Talks, Huawei’s Executive Editor-in-Chief, Gavin Allen, speaks with Wang Zheng of the Huawei Singapore Central Software Institute.

Wang is the architect behind this year’s Huawei-powered ICPC Challenge. His task design, inspired by the memory-management demands of large language models, mirrors the complex issues engineers confront every day in AI and computing.

Huawei has created dozens of these challenges in the past year alone. The goals are to connect student talent with real industry needs, foster innovation, and encourage a new generation to test their skills against problems that truly matter.
