Construction of the Red Sea Project in Saudi Arabia

(Posted May 2024) This video, shot in early 2023, shows the construction of the Red Sea Project, the world's first city fully powered by 100% renewable energy  along the Red Sea coast in Saudi Arabia. As a cornerstone of SaudiVision2030, the Red Sea project stands as the world's largest microgrid energy storage project, with a storage capacity of 1.3GWh. Huawei provided a complete set of equipment and consulting services for the project, including 400 MW PV inverters, 1.3 GWh ESSs, and transformer stations. Through the application of a series of cutting-edge technologies, such as GW-level black start and off-grid continuous fault ride-through, the Red Sea Project has achieved 100% PV+ESS power supply and become a global benchmark for large microgrids.  Delivery of the project was completed in Oct. 2023.
