Big Data, Big Wisdom
Derek Liu, Vice President of Marketing, IT Product Line of Huawei Enterprise BG, elaborates on how big data can be turned from liability to asset.
Leveraging big data represents evolution more than disruption. From the top down, business leaders should propel this evolution and tune their organizations to be data friendly and even data-driven. Basically, this process would involve three indispensable elements. First, a solid data management layer must be built based on state-of-the-art technology. Second, business people must be extensively involved in the conversion of data into useful information/business intelligence. Third, business leaders must improve their business model based on this business intelligence. Those three forces work together and reinforce each other, making for a positive feedback loop. However, the business world lacks people with substantial expertise and market sense, and there is a shortage of technology as well that is mature and cost-effective.
Huawei’s SmartCare solution offers comprehensive data analysis of network status and user behavior. Based on this analysis, operators can optimize network operations and business models, and even develop targeted marketing tools for their customers.
In a nutshell, adoption of big data involves an evolutionary process akin to IT transformation. Firstly, enterprises need to take the initiative in exploring and experimenting with big data, and then build their own customized business processes to embrace it, while realigning their organization and business models, all processes that will be refined over time.
