Cloud Adoption in Education and Transport
Operating in a distributed environment, education and transportation industries call for cost-effective tool that enables collaboration between various stakeholders. Agatha Poon from 451 Research believes the cloud is the answer for the both.
As Agatha Poon, Research Manager of Global Cloud Computing of 451 Research shared in the interview, operating in a very distributed environment, education and transportation industries have same requirement in IT platform. Both of them have various stakeholders from different areas, such as teachers, students, parents, administrations, and academic organizations in the education industry, as well as drivers, customers, agencies, and airline in the transportation industry. Ideally, it would be good for operating in a cloud environment if they want to connect all stakeholders and generate collaboration between them.
According to Agatha Poon, the economic effectiveness of cloud is the key driver for a lot of vertical industries to think about this technology. In education for example, colleges and even high school have got funding cut, so they need to find new way to reduce the operational cost. The other value would be efficiency. The cloud can provide a common platform users can access the applications from anywhere anytime. The third would be collaboration as all stakeholders are living and working in a very distributed environment.
