The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato, impressed with the results achieved by this Huawei Portugal initiative, delivered a heartfelt speech to the scholarship recipients, stating that "it is precisely through programs such as the one promoted by Huawei that we can implement one of the country's priorities, namely the investment in skills development to respond to the digital transition". The Minister also reiterated that Huawei's initiative deserves a special mention not only for "investing in the training of future generations" in areas within the scope of engineering and technology, but also "for respecting the principle of gender equality", by granting half of the scholarships to young female students.
