Security Advisory - Out of Bounds Write Vulnerability in Some Huawei Products

There is an out of bounds write vulnerability in some Huawei products. The vulnerability is caused by a function of a module that does not properly verify input parameter. Successful exploit could cause out of bounds write leading to a denial of service condition. (Vulnerability ID: HWPSIRT-2021-34990)

This vulnerability has been assigned a Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) ID: CVE-2021-37129.

This vulnerability can be exploited only when the following conditions are present:

An attacker could send a crafted message to the device.

Vulnerability details:

The device management function of Huawei data communication products has a buffer overflow vulnerability. This vulnerability is caused by incorrect boundary verification when processing device interface management packets. An attacker who can log in to the device through HTTP can send malicious NETCONF packets to the device to trigger this vulnerability. Successful exploitation could result in device service exceptions.
