[Beijing, China, November 28, 2019] At the Edge Computing Industry Summit 2019 (ECIS2019) today, Huawei's Atlas 500 AI edge station wins the Top 10 Edge Computing Solutions 2019 award for its compact size, superb computing power, easy deployment, and low consumption.

Huawei Atlas 500 AI edge station wins the Top 10 Edge Computing Solutions 2019 award

ECIS2019 is hosted by the Edge Computing Consortium (ECC). The event gathers top industry experts, enterprise leaders, ecosystem partners, and industry analysts across the globe. The award advances the list of recognition to the Atlas 500 AI edge station as an excellent computing device that meets the increasing requirements for edge + AI.

With the increasing popularity of AI technologies, demands for AI computing at the edge are growing sharply. However, traditional data center servers cannot meet the real-time requirements of AI applications on the edge side. Therefore, edge computing devices with AI capability become a key factor for bringing AI to wider application.

Built on the Huawei Ascend AI processor, Atlas 500 can enable a basic AI computing platform for various edge computing scenarios, such as intelligent image and video analytics. Atlas 500 expedites real-time analytics at the edge, reduces the dependency on network bandwidth, and supports algorithm upgrade for constantly improved application experience.

The award-winning Atlas 500 AI edge station has the following features:

Edge intelligence: It delivers industry-leading AI processing power, and adopts a fanless design. The capability of running stably at -40°C to +70°C outdoors sets it apart from its counterparts.

Superb computing in a small size: It supports 16-channel HD videos and 16 TeraOPS of INT8 computing in the size of a set-top-box (STB).

Edge-cloud collaboration: It supports Wi-Fi and LTE wireless transmission, and works with private and public clouds, receiving applications and updated algorithms pushed from the cloud. The device and firmware upgrade are centrally managed on the cloud.

Atlas 500 can be widely used in complex edge environments such as security protection, transportation, communities, campuses, shopping malls, and supermarkets. It supports application scenarios such as smart elevators, smart customer service centers, passenger flow analysis, road and vehicle analysis, power device inspection, and campus access control.

Based on the Ascend series AI processors, Huawei has built the Atlas AI computing platform, providing a broad portfolio including modules, cards, edge stations, AI servers, and clusters. The portfolio helps customers build AI infrastructure solutions for all scenarios across the device, edge, and cloud, covering full-pipeline inference and training for deep learning. Ever since it meets the market, the Huawei Atlas AI computing platform has been applied in joint AI solutions developed by Huawei and over 50 industry partners, fueling the intelligent transformation of various industries.
