Huawei Unveils GigaUplink Solution to Advance Mobile AI
[Shanghai, China, June 26, 2026] During MWC Shanghai 2026, Huawei held the Mobile AI Industry Summit to bring together global leading operators, industry organizations, and ecosystem partners, and they reached an industry consensus that enhancing uplink is key for mobile networks to drive industry innovation and business growth in the Mobile AI era. Facing the challenges of improving uplink capabilities, Huawei released a GigaUplink Solution. Leveraging upgraded multi-antenna technology and intelligent spectrum, device-network, and network collaboration algorithms, the solution offers an effective approach to enhancing uplink capabilities for operators looking to build a solid foundation for Mobile AI.
Industry: GigaUplink is key to building network capabilities for Mobile AI
Dr. Wen Ku, Chairman of the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), proposed to develop a unified set of Mobile AI service assessment metrics by borrowing from subjective assessments for voice services based on mean opinion scores (MOSs). Despite the monumental challenge of covering multifaceted scenarios like data, video, and content creation, establishing these metrics remains a critical pillar for the orderly development of the industry.
Barbara Pareglio, Senior Technical Director of GSMA, pointed out that Mobile AI is reshaping the mobile network traffic structure from downlink centric model to balanced uplink and downlink, creating new business opportunities for operators. Uplink enhancement, latency assurance, and terminal network cloud synergy have become the key directions for network evolution.
Ecosystem partners, including Huawei XR glasses and TermiTech, shared the latest smart wearables and embodied AI technologies. All participants agreed that uplink capabilities, latency assurance, and high reliability are crucial to enabling Mobile AI experiences and fostering service innovation.

Technology: Huawei's GigaUplink builds the foundation for Mobile AI
In his keynote speech, Zeng Chuang, President of Huawei Wireless FDD Product Line, emphasized that mid-band spectrum is crucial to tackling the coverage, capacity, and latency challenges of Mobile AI, holding critical value for uplink capabilities: It allows for balanced coverage and capacity, positioning itself as a core spectrum for uplink services. It helps maximize C-band potential through TDD-FDD coordination, and also offloads traffic pressure in areas with good coverage through coordination with low bands to release more low-band resources to users at network edges, supporting ubiquitous and consistent uplink experiences. Huawei's GigaUplink solution integrates new multi-antenna technology upgrades and three intelligent collaboration algorithms to provide a fivefold increase in uplink capacity along with a 10-dB-better coverage enhancement.
- Building GigaUplink foundation with multi-antenna upgrades:
Huawei's 8T8R and Massive MIMO series products support space-division multiplexing and multiple-antenna reception via native beamforming technology. By combining these advantages with GigaGreen, which is designed for simplified and ultra-wideband deployments, the products stand uniquely capable of building leading uplink foundation for operators.
- Improving uplink user experience with three collaboration algorithms:
First, spectrum collaboration leverages spectrum pooling, SUL, and other technologies to decouple uplink and downlink spectrum. This enables spectrum resource increase for 5G on demand, facilitating smooth spectrum migration to 5G.
Second, device-network collaboration dynamically aligns optimal parameter configurations with device capabilities and network conditions, enabling UEs to fully unleash their uplink performance.
Third, network collaboration enables joint signal reception and intelligent interference suppression across sites and cells to improve user experiences.
Zeng Chuang launching the GigaUplink solution
Zeng Chuang said that "Huawei will continue to collaborate with industry partners to build GigaUplink networks for Mobile AI through joint standards, ecosystem, and business development. This will promote the iterative evolution of GigaUplink capabilities to deliver better Mobile AI service experiences and drive the mobile industry into the next golden decade."
MWC Shanghai 2026 will be held from June 24 to June 26 in Shanghai, China. During the event, Huawei will showcase its latest products and solutions in Hall N1 of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC).
The ICT industry is rapidly moving towards an era of token monetization. Huawei is collaborating with global carriers and partners to explore 5G-A high uplink and experience monetization, as well as AI-powered business upgrade, through enhanced connectivity and compute. Together, we will seize opportunities presented by token monetization.
