Jazz Powers 1,000 Sites with Solar in Collaboration with Huawei, Advancing Green Connectivity in Pakistan
[Islamabad, Pakistan, April 3, 2026] Jazz, Pakistan’s leading connectivity provider under JazzWorld, has successfully deployed solar power systems across 1,000 telecom sites nationwide, in collaboration with Huawei. The initiative marks one of the largest renewable energy deployments in Pakistan’s communications sector, with a total installed capacity of 13 MW.
This milestone reflects Jazz’s commitment to building a more sustainable and resilient digital infrastructure, reducing reliance on fuel-based energy while supporting Pakistan’s broader transition towards clean power. Jazz will continue to expand the use of renewable energy across its network as part of its broader commitment to sustainable operations and long-term value creation, aligned with VEON Group’s ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The solar-powered sites are expected to generate approximately 11 GWh of clean energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by around 15,000 tons per year. In addition to environmental benefits, the deployment enhances network reliability, particularly in energy-constrained and underserved areas, enabling more consistent connectivity for millions of customers.
The project leverages Huawei’s integrated green site solutions, combining solar power, battery storage, and intelligent energy management to optimize performance across diverse operating conditions. This has enabled Jazz to transition traditional sites into more efficient, low-carbon infrastructure while improving overall energy availability.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of JazzWorld, said: “Building Pakistan’s digital future requires infrastructure that is both resilient and responsible. Expanding solar across our network allows us to reduce our environmental footprint while improving service reliability for our customers. Our collaboration with Huawei has enabled us to scale this transition efficiently, supporting both our sustainability goals and Pakistan’s clean energy ambitions.”
Steven Yi, Senior Vice President of Huawei, added: “This project marks an important milestone in Huawei’s collaboration with Jazz in advancing green communications. By leveraging innovative energy solutions, we are supporting operators in reducing carbon emissions while enhancing network performance. We remain committed to enabling Pakistan’s communications industry in its journey towards a more sustainable and intelligent future.”
