Huawei and Shanghai Media Group Launch a Global UHD Showcase for a Smart Future of Audiovisual Experiences
[Shanghai, China, September 20, 2025] Huawei launched its first global ultra-high definition (UHD) showcase together with Shanghai Media Group (SMG) during HUAWEI CONNECT 2025 at an event themed "UHD Innovation for a Smart Future." This showcase aims to provide a roadmap for digital and intelligent transformation in the media industry, so as to accelerate global UHD audiovisual innovation.

The following guests jointly unveiled the Global UHD Showcase by Shanghai Media Group and Huawei: Song Jiongming, Deputy Party Secretary, Deputy Director, and President of SMG; Wang Zhihua, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism; Hu Yong, Deputy District Mayor of the People's Government of Jing'an District of Shanghai; Chen Sijie, Deputy Director and Vice President of SMG; Zhang Wengang, Secretary General of the UHD World Association; York Yue, Vice President of Huawei and CEO of ISP & OTT BU; and Liu Tao, General Manager of Huawei Large Enterprise Account Dept.
The showcase features a selection of advanced solutions from Huawei. The IP-based Production and Broadcasting (P&B) Network Solution implements efficient production and transmission of 4K/8K UHD content to eliminate the limitations of the traditional Serial Digital Interface (SDI) matrix for improved P&B flexibility and system scalability. The UHD Storage Solution provides robust storage features that ensure secure storage and quick retrieval of massive amounts of materials. AI applications enabled by Huawei's digital and intelligent infrastructure support intelligent content production, moderation, and distribution, comprehensively improving content creation efficiency and quality. SMG and Huawei aim to utilize this showcase to accelerate the large-scale implementation of UHD technologies in live streaming, virtual production, intelligent media assets, and other scenarios, setting a benchmark for global media sector players in the intelligent upgrade of audiovisual experiences.

Before the launch ceremony, the guests visited the UHD, intelligent, and mobile exhibition halls of the showcase and Yicai Studio. In particular, they experienced the extensive application of UHD technologies in P&B, content creation, and distribution in the smart broadcasting exhibition area.
Looking ahead, SMG and Huawei will deepen their cooperation and focus on the formulation of UHD industry standards, ecosystem co-construction, and talent development, aiming to pave the way for China's UHD players to go global. The two parties will also explore the converged innovation of UHD with virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR) and cloud computing, and develop intelligent and diverse UHD audiovisual solutions. Together, they aim to upgrade audiovisual experiences through technological innovations, helping China's UHD industry to lead on the world stage.
