AoNR Empowers the Agentverse: Fueling a Thriving Mobile AI Era
[Shanghai, China, December 5, 2025] Eric Zhao, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei Wireless Solution, delivered a keynote speech at the recent GSMA Foundry Mobile AI live session. He said that mobile AI is evolving from incremental improvements to an "intelligent leap," with AI agents acting as a core engine for new productivity and driving society into a new era of the Agentverse.
He called on the ICT industry to lay the foundation for the Agentverse and share success in the mobile AI era by building versatile Agent over New Radio (AoNR) networks to ensure multidimensional agent experience; interconnecting smart devices to enable diverse intelligent interactions; and developing diverse models to make multimodal intelligent applications widely accessible.
"Mobile First" Paradigm Shift: Beyond People, Toward Agents
The explosion of mobile AI usage, marked by longer interactions and surging active users, has shifted the paradigm to "Mobile First." Enhanced capabilities and ubiquitous AI agents are transforming interactions and making intelligent services universally available. This is driving a change from connecting people to connecting agents.
- Personal devices: Agents are becoming next-generation "killer apps." They cover all facets of daily life and reshape network traffic and device interaction models, triggering exponential traffic growth.
- Smart vehicles: Agents are powering every aspect of travel, enabling safe smart driving and advanced smart cockpits. They are turning vehicles into a "third living space," expanding network coverage scenarios.
- Embodied AI: The integration of agents into physical systems unlocks silicon-based productivity, empowering sectors like manufacturing, home life, and urban governance. This opens up a vast market of trillions of new connections.
Three-Pronged Enablement: Laying the Foundation for the Agentverse
- Interconnected smart devices enable diverse intelligent interactions: The next wave of mobile AI will rely on devices that can talk to each other smoothly. To make that possible, various types of devices such as phones, cars, and home gadgets will need to integrate both 5G-A and agent capabilities. The goal is to move beyond isolated agents and build a connected system that can understand what is happening around it and respond in real time, enabling smarter automation in everyday situations.
- Versatile AoNR networks ensure multidimensional agent experience: Agent-powered intelligent interactions require networks to deliver GigaUplink and High Reliability, High Concurrency, High Duration. AoNR provides these network capabilities, supporting AI training and real-time inference. To evaluate multimodal agent experience, the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) initiated the new AI-MOS standard this year. Similar to mean opinion scores (MOS) for voice quality assessment, this standard measures experience quality through a comprehensive set of metrics. Implementing this standard necessitates industry-wide collaboration.
- Diverse models make multimodal intelligent applications widely accessible: Companies need models tailored to specific scenarios to open up new commercial opportunities. Achieving that requires networks that can deliver computing power when and where it is needed, along with an efficient, well-distributed computing infrastructure that ensures access to these resources anywhere.
Zhao concluded that creating an Agentverse calls for concerted industry efforts to build an AoNR network through standards, ecosystem, and value innovation. This network is crucial for powering all-scenario intelligent interactions and opening up vast commercial opportunities.
