New Calling is one of the new markets that 5G technology opens up. Currently, calling services remain one of the most important and most basic services for operators, providing both indispensable business and social value. New Calling embeds ultra-HD, intelligent, and interactive capabilities in operators' calling services. This helps both individuals and enterprises improve communication efficiency and upgrade calling experiences. Additionally, it creates greater value for operators who can monetize cutting-edge calling services that users can enjoy without the need to install any app and injects new vitality into the development of 5G.

Over the past year, Chinese operators, together with Huawei and other partners, have developed multiple innovative New Calling services, such as visualized voice calling, fun calling (allowing, for example, subscribers to appear as an avatar during a video call), real-time translation, remote damage assessment, and interactive menu. These new services, currently being beta-tested in China, bring users brand-new communication experiences.

Internationally, GSMA has established a Foundry project to promote the development of New Calling. Despite considerable progress, there are still many hurdles before moving onto the commercial use of New Calling. To achieve business success, all parties need to reach a common consensus and strengthen cooperation in the development of terminals, industry standards, service experiences, and application ecosystems.

The New Calling industry cooperation initiative calls upon global operators, network suppliers, terminal vendors, and industry partners to exchange thoughts, explore business models, promote network interconnection, develop standards for terminals and applications, and build a sound industry ecosystem. By doing these, New Calling will grow and create more value for users.

Chen Haiyong, President of the CS&IMS Domain of Huawei Cloud Core Network Product Line, said, "New Calling will bring tremendous opportunities to operators, and the value of the calling entries will be significantly intensified. We hope that more partners group together to build the New Calling ecosystem, so as to catalyze the development of this new industry and create a win-win future."

Huawei will continue to work with partners to enhance calling capabilities, optimize user experiences, develop high-quality applications, and promote the commercial use of services, thereby heralding a new dawn for the voice industry.
