Huawei Releases Hertz Platform Antennas to Facilitate Sub-3 GHz NR Evolution

[Shenzhen, China, September 24, 2021] At the Global Antenna Technology & Industry Forum 2021, Huawei unveiled its Hertz platform antennas. This new series of antennas adopts a number of innovative technologies related to feeding networks, array architecture, and energy efficiency to help operators high efficiently evolve sub-3 GHz into NR.

Given globally accelerated 5G rollouts, sub-3 GHz NR multi-antenna evolution will be crucial for ubiquitous 5G experience. In this evolution, FDD mid-band 8T8R is required to build 5G basic capacity layer and deliver cross-generation experience. Hertz platform antennas adopt enhanced multi-array technology, ultra-high integration architecture, and full-band SDIF (signal direct injection feeding) technology. These benefits enable simplified and efficient deployment on sub-3 GHz bands.

Hertz platform has the following advantages:

1. Larger network capacity with higher MIMO performance

Using Ultra-resolution Beam technology, Hertz platform provides high-precision beamforming and beam directivity to boost MIMO performance. This increases capacity by 15% in FDD 8T8R networks.

2. Powerful configuration for simplified sub-3 GHz deployment in one antenna

For the first time in the industry, Hertz platform adopts eight-array side-by-side architecture to achieve powerful configuration and derivation capability. As such, low-band 4T4R, mid-band 4T4R, and mid-band 8T8R can be deployed in a single antenna. Additionally, with the leading array decoupling technology, the antenna size is 30% smaller than the traditional design. Network evolution does not require extra antenna space, greatly simplifying site acquisition and installation.

3. High energy efficiency

The leading SDIF technology minimizes feed loss to improve energy efficiency by 10%~15%. This means that antennas can provide a better network coverage with the same level of transmit power, or use a lower transmit power to achieve the same level of coverage.

The Global Antenna Technology and Industry Forum is the biggest event in the antenna industry, and it has been held annually for 10 consecutive years since 2012. More than 2,000 participants from operators and third-party industry organizations attended in 2021. They discussed a broad range of topics, including product evolution, technical innovation, site deployment and energy saving, to promote the innovation and growth of the antenna industry.
