Huawei Launches the Single Voice Core Solution
[Shenzhen, China, February 25, 2020] Huawei officially launched the Single Voice Core solution recently to provide voice services for 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and fixed-line subscribers. The solution helps carriers integrate different voice networks, expand new voice services, and build voice infrastructure networks in the 5G era.
Voice services are still one of the indispensable telecom services of the 5G era. 3GPP stipulates that 5G subscribers can use the VoNR service to enjoy IMS-based voice services or the EPS FB service to fall back to VoLTE networks. It also stipulates that 5G subscribers cannot fall back to 2G/3G networks. However, traditional CS services are not going anywhere fast, and carriers will need to operate multiple voice networks at the same time. This increases costs, causes inconsistent service experience across voice networks, and makes O&M more complex. Converging these voice networks is a no-brainer for carriers.
Huawei, with more than 20 years of experience in voice networks, proposed the innovative all-cloud all-converged Single Voice Core solution. The solution is built based on IMS, and allows 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, and fixed-line subscribers to access the same network to enjoy voice services. The solution helps simplify network architecture, optimize resources shared between NEs, and reduce NEs and interfaces quantity on live networks. With this solution, carriers can reduce investment in networks and improve O&M efficiency. In addition, carriers can provide consistent service experience across different voice networks, accelerate retirement of CS networks and cloudification of voice networks, open up network capabilities to provide industry-oriented value-added services such as HD video and video RBT, and accelerate innovation of industry-specific applications.
Zhao Yue, president of the CS&IMS domain of Huawei Cloud Core Network product line, said, "The voice network convergence idea initiated by Huawei is wide recognized by global carriers. Huawei released the Single Voice Core solution to help carriers build 5-in-1 voice networks. It opens up network capabilities so that up to 20 billion real-time audio and video connections can be established between people, and between people and things, creating continuous business value for carriers."
Huawei has devoted a lot of time to researching the real-time audio and video service industry. By the end of 2019, Huawei had provided services for more than 150 voice networks worldwide, serving over 600 million VoLTE subscribers. Huawei was also awarded the "Best 5G Voice Solution" and "Communications Innovator of the Year" awards at the Voice & Advanced Communications Summit in 2019.
