Huawei Launches Industry’s First 800G Tunable Ultra-High-Speed Optical Module
[London, UK, February 26, 2020] At the Huawei products and solutions launch in London, Peng Song, President of Huawei's Carrier BG Marketing and Solution Sales Dept, Launched the industry’s first 800G tunable ultra-high-speed optical module. The module is intended to guarantee bandwidth in first-rate 5G networks, helping operators achieve commercial 5G success.
The advent of 5G is causing a sharp increase in network traffic. Higher video quality and more video consumption are two of the major causes. Omdia predicts that the year's network traffic will reach approximately 4.3 million PB in 2023, roughly triple that of 2019.
The line rates of optical networks are rapidly moving from 100 Gbit/s to 200/400 Gbit/s. Huawei released this 800G module to help operators cope with the bandwidth challenges of 5G networks. The module features:
- Line rates can be tuned from 200 Gbit/s to 800 Gbit/s, making it adaptable to various applications and enabling smooth evolution over the next 10 years.
- 48 Tbit/s per-fiber, which is 40% higher than industry average, meaning that 100 4K movies could be downloaded in just 1 second.
- Huawei's latest channel-matched shaping (CMS) algorithm, achieving 20% longer in transmission distance.
This latest 800G module is now being applied in all OptiXtrans portfolios of Huawei, covering multiple application scenarios, such as backbone transmission, metro transmission, and data center interconnections, significantly improving the transmission performance of optical networks and reducing per-bit transmission cost.
Huawei has been committed to using innovative optical networks and technologies to resolve network bandwidth bottlenecks, bringing the best network experience to every person, home, and organization, and building an intelligent, connected world.
