XL Axiata and Huawei Sign MoU on ICT Managed Services Contract

[Barcelona, Spain, 25 February, 2019] PT XL Axiata Tbk, the Indonesian branch of Axiata Group, one of the largest communication service providers in the country, and Huawei, a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices, have announced the MOU signing of a new five-year contract for ICT Managed Services. The contract will see Huawei provide operations and maintenance as well as network performance management services.

The latest contract further strengthens the partnership between Huawei and XL Axiata which dates back to 2012. The renewal contract will include MS Transformation with a focus on digital operations led by state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and machine learning based technologies and tools, leading the way towards Intelligent Network Operations.

Managed Services and Transformation solutions are generally utilized by operators to manage specific day-to-day areas of network operations and transform technologies and processes, which can be used to assure performance management, spare parts management, and management of field operations as a way to enable operators to focus on their core service offerings. The operationalization of MS Transformation will be carried out by 100% on-shore resources, with the aim of job effectiveness and understanding of geographical areas in Indonesia.

The further step of cooperation between XL Axiata and Huawei is an important milestone for both parties, and starts the transformation into a more automate and intelligent operations.

PT XL Axiata Tbk was initially established on 6 October 1989, and became the first private mobile services operator in the country, starting commercial operations on October 8, 1996. In 2018，XL Axiata’s BTS count rising to more than 118,000, and the total quantity of subscribers rising to more than 54.9 million. As strategic partner, Huawei and XL Axiata has established full range cooperation covering all wireless/fixed network/core/VAS and ICT managed services.
