Huawei Releases Core Network Autonomous Driving Network White Paper
[Shenzhen, China, November 28, 2019] Huawei has released the Huawei Core Network Autonomous Driving Network White Paper, the industry's first to put forward the concept, objective, and architecture of an autonomous driving network solution for the 5G core network. It provides a measurable and practical guide for the evolution of the 5G core network to an autonomous driving network.

The 5G network provides a new, critical infrastructure for the digital economy and accelerates the digital transformation of industries. The 5G core network is the key to enabling thousands of industries and automation is a key factor for the 5G core network to ensure services are agile, can meet the needs of different industries, and improve operations and management efficiency.
In the white paper, Huawei provides the first industry’s comprehensive proposal for the concept and classification standards of the autonomous driving network. The classification standards of the autonomous driving network are defined in terms of customer experience, labor saving, and network complexity.
With its technical advantages in the 5G core network and in-depth understanding of O&M services, Huawei can integrate key technologies such as AI, big data, and automation with the communications field to build a data native, orchestrated workflow engine and AI engine. By adopting the NE- and network-level closed-loop, autonomous system, Huawei introduces automation and intelligence at different network layers as well as launches iMaster MAE-CN, which is the industry's first intelligent O&M solution for the 5G core autonomous driving network. iMaster MAE-CN integrates management and control, cloud-edge synergy, and hierarchical autonomy. It makes all data assets on the entire network visible, manageable, and traceable, helping carriers build intelligent, simplified, and agile 5G core networks.
The autonomous driving network solution for the 5G core network can be applied to various service scenarios such as 5G slicing, 5G MEC, workflow orchestration, and intelligent O&M. Building an autonomous 5G core network is a long-term evolution process. Key scenario practices must follow a gradual evolution policy. The focus should be shifted from the NE-oriented automatic device management to all-scenario automation. In this way, the end-to-end autonomy of the core network can be achieved.
Adhering to the philosophy, "openness, cooperation, and win-win", Huawei is willing to work with global operators and partners to enable autonomous driving for the 5G core network and ultimately build an intent-driven, fully autonomous network, boosting the 5G development.
