Dr. Che Haiping, CTO of Huawei Carrier Software & Core Network BU, and Ari Banerjee, Senior Analyst form Heavy Reading, shares their views on the trend towards Cloud as a Service (CaaS). This video also discusses how Huawei solutions can help operators fulfill their potential in this area.
According to Che, the cloud is a major trend in the telecom industry. Carriers are looking to open network APIs to provide enabling services that leverage cloud technology, which means additional revenue streams and a better end-user experience.
Banerjee concludes that carrier cloud is becoming one of the most important areas for service providers’ strategy today. Operators cannot do everything their own; opening APIs to have more service partners on board is very important. To do that, cloud revolution becomes part of the job. There are carriers making huge investments in the cloud; typically they are buying out pure cloud equipment providers, but if you cannot bill a service, it becomes a tragedy.
Banerjee gives service provisioning, revenue management, and billing the same priority. He believes that real-time charging and convergent charging with policy management will play a very important role.
To fulfill carriers’ needs, Huawei provides end-to-end cloud computing solutions in both the IT and CT sectors. Covering both cloud data centers and cloud applications, Huawei solutions are ready to help service providers closely keep up with the trends towards Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).
