At the MWC 2012, Ying Weimin, Huawei President of GSM&UMT<E Networks, talks LTE trends and Huawei's role in the development of mobile broadband.
Ying discusses how Huawei started to invest heavily in LTE in 2004 and is now a significant contributor to the global body of LTE standards and key technologies. In 2009, Huawei deployed the world's first commercial LTE network for TeliaSonera. By the end of 2012, Huawei will have assisted 37 out of the world's top 50 operators in their LTE deployment. Ying is very positive about LTE worldwide adoption. In 2011, 285 operators invested in LTE networks, among which 119 planned launches for 2012.
The next decade will see huge changes in mobile broadband in terms of applications and data traffic growth. Mobile broadband will connect more people and more things.
At MWC 2012, Huawei demonstrated technologies such as interband carrier aggregation and 4X4 MIMO, to name a few. With its newly proposed GigaSite concept, which aims to achieve ultra-broadband, ubiquitous connectivity and zero-waiting, Huawei is ready to partner with operators looking to take mobile broadband to the next level.
