Deng Taihua, President of Huawei's TDD business unit, says 2012 has been an extraordinary year for LTE TDD and Huawei will continue to drive the industry forward, particularly on the device front.
Deng describes 2012 as a year of large-scale commercialization for LTE TDD. There were 35 commercial contracts worldwide, with 14 of them already commercially launched. The subscribers for LTE TDD have exceeded 2 million within just one year, led by successful operators such as Mobily, Softbank and China Mobile. Deng thinks think that one major challenge for LTE TDD is the availability of LTE TDD devices, especially smartphones. Huawei has already developed and released our series of industry-first LTE TDD devices, include CPE, USB dongles, pocket Wi-Fi, and smartphones such as the Ascend P1 and Ascend D2. Huawei also cooperates widely with Qualcomm, Intel, and other industry partners to advance the entire LTE TDD industry.
