Huawei 3GPP 5G Pre-commercial System is awarded as one of World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements
[Wuzhen, China, December 3rd, 2017] The 4th World Internet Conference (WIC 2017) is taking place at Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province from Dec 3rd to 5th this year. At the opening day, the WIC organizing committee awards “Huawei 3GPP 5G Pre-commercial System” as one of World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements, thanks to Huawei significant contribution to the development of the world internet. Huawei Rotating CEO Eric Xu attends the Summit and has the honor to deliver his keynote speech; the full text of his speech is as below.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!
First of all, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the organizing committee for awarding Huawei 3GPP 5G Pre-commercial System as one of World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements. Thank you for your recognition and continued support!
As early as 2009, Huawei has invested in 5G research. Over the past eight years, Huawei has been working closely with partners from various regions, governments, regulatory agencies, research organizations, academia, industries, and many more sectors. Our joint efforts in defining requirements, researching technologies, and developing standards contribute to the launch of this 5G pre-commercial system. This award indicates the industry's wide recognition not only of Huawei, but also of all partners involved. On behalf of these parties, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee again.
Today, I feel honored to attend the 4th World Internet Conference. We need to especially thank China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, and over 600 global telecom operators for all their valuable contributions. During the past decades, they have devoted themselves to the construction of the Internet and mobile Internet to get the world connected. Due to their constant efforts, we can access a diverse range of Internet applications, such as search, e-commerce, social networking, and content. An increasing number of Internet application companies can quickly rise and prevail. In this process, Huawei is proud to provide one third of the network equipment for global telecom operators, helping to build powerful Internet and mobile Internet. Huawei also released smartphones for more and more users to enjoy the benefits of mobile Internet.
Huawei is committed to creating a smart connected world that is accessible to everybody, every family, and every organization. Investment in 5G is one of our outstanding practices.
We are also concerned about what 5G can bring to our society. First, 5G can significantly improve consumers' mobile Internet experience. For example, it takes less than two seconds to download a 6 GB HD movie using 5G. Second, 5G can support over 100 billion connections between things with industrial-grade reliability and real-time performance. These capabilities make 5G a solid foundation for successful implementation of industry strategies, such as Industry 4.0 and Made in China 2025. 5G is expected to serve as a universal wireless technology. In the future, 5G networks will be ubiquitous to provide mobile connections anytime and anywhere.
Huawei plans to launch a complete set of 5G network equipment solutions for large-scale global commercial deployment in 2018. At that time, mobile Internet will step into a new era where connectivity of everything will promote the digital transformation of all industries. Huawei also expects to launch 5G Kirin chips and smartphones in 2019 to provide a superior 5G network experience as early as possible.
