Between November 11 and 25, 2016, Huawei successfully delivered the first Seeds for the Future program in Cameroon. After several rounds of selection, ten students from the leading ICT universities across the country came to Shenzhen and Beijing for ICT and cultural training. Senior Chinese and Cameroonian government officials present at the launch event included Martin Mpana, Ambassador of Cameroon in China; vice minister of Higher Education; and Wei Shengzi, Chinese Economic and Commercial Counselor to Cameroon. They thanked Huawei for its efforts in nurturing local ICT talent.

The program was widely covered by local newspaper and online media. The China-based journalists from the Cameroon Tribune closely followed the participants’ study and life in China.

In 2017, Huawei will continue to launch the program in Cameroon, and plans to work with the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Postes et Télécommunications (ENSPT) to further raise the program’s profile in local universities.
