[Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, November 30, 2018] Today, at the e-Government Conference and ICT Exhibition 2018 which was held at the Myanmar International Convention Center II in Nay Pyi Taw from 27 to 28 November, Huawei outlined its bold vision of how to enable digital Government by cloud platform in countries such as Myanmar. The event organized by the Myanmar Computer Federation (MCF), in accordance with the guidance of the e-Government Steering Committee, chaired by Vice President(1), featured key discussions on the development of e-Government initiatives and was participated by the industry’s top organizations, including leading global ICT infrastructure and solutions provider Huawei.

Huawei has taken part in the conference - which objectives include providing an effective industry platform where the nation’s departmental chief information officers (CIO) can gain better understanding on the latest technologies and updates regarding e-Government - since it’s the inaugural edition. Participating for the third consecutive year, Huawei experts took to the stage and exhibition floor to discuss the role of cloud-based solutions, highlighting the firm’s extensive global track-record in this game-changing technology field in fulfilling Myanmar’s burgeoning digitalization needs, even as the country’s leaders chart its e-Government future.

Supporting the event as a platinum sponsor, Huawei also hosted a booth to demonstrate its products and solutions for high-profile attendees which included top national leaders, chief information officers (CIO), ICT industry experts and leaders from around Myanmar. As part of the showcase, these included its comprehensive cloud-based solutions, face-recognition technology and other products and services. The solutions on display were among its suite of offerings that are currently being provided to more than 120 cities from over 40 countries globally.

CTO of Industrial Solutions from Huawei Southern-East Asia Enterprise Business Group, spoke extensively during the presentation titled, “Leading New ICT- Enabling
Digital Government by Cloud Platform”, about the digital transformation global trends and how the Cloud transformation impacts digital transformation by improving livelihood of citizens, increasing government service efficiency, social governance capability and enterprise development.  He also shared Huawei's building Cloud platform to benefit variety of industries towards successful digital transformation and Huawei’s suggestion on Myanmar's digital transformation road path.

Mr. Zhang Liman, CEO of Huawei Myanmar shared his idea that government should play as practitioners, motivators, and regulators with respect to achieve digital nation. He said, “By embracing digital development, governments can improve governance, create an environment conducive to development, and regulate flexibly and effectively, we suggest that governments prioritize promotion of how to realize digitalization before launching a package of digital initiatives. The government's mindset for enhancing its capabilities through digital technology will determine its responsibility as a practitioner of digitalization. How governments pursue the building of a favorable environment for digital development will determine its status as a motivator for the digital ecosystem. And the responsibilities governments assume in guiding and supervising digital development will determine their roles as a regulator for digital development.”

The two-day e-Government Conference and ICT Exhibition kicked off with a special opening keynote speech delivered by Vice President U Myint Swe, e-Government Steering Committee Chairman, followed by a VIP Discussion Panel entitled “Road to Digital Government” and held sessions for Expert Talks & Technical Paper Presentations as well as Product/Service Launches & Presentations. Over 90 booths at the event from participating industry exhibitors also featured the latest technology solutions and trend information.
