Bringing ICT Education and Employment Closer Together

Training the students of today for the ICT jobs of tomorrow

A Digital Future without Digital Experts?

Although the world is fast becoming digital, the gulf between ICT job vacancies and the number of engineers that can fill them is widening. By 2025, 85% of business applications will be cloud-based and 97% of large companies will use AI. However, there won't be enough qualified engineers to operate these technologies if we don't start taking action now. This is where Huawei ICT Academy comes in.

ICT Academy: Bridging Gaps for the Future

Huawei has teamed up with universities from around the world to bridge the talent gap and close the distance between ICT theory and application. ICT Academy provides students with hands-on training in the latest technologies, imbuing them with the foundation to become next-generation innovators. The academy provides budding ICT professionals with comprehensive study materials and access to the latest Huawei technologies.

The academy's annual ICT competition takes place on a regional level, with finalists traveling to China to pit their expertise against other tech students from around the world.

As of the end of 2020, we have worked with 1,500 universities across the globe to develop teaching materials, train teachers, build labs, and certify students. In 2020 alone, we trained 57,000 students.

The Next Generation of Thinkers

Huawei worked with over 1,600 colleges and universities around the world on the fourth Huawei ICT competition, which concluded in May 2019, and attracted more than 100,000 college students from 61 countries.

The ICT certification provided through the academy recognizes up-and-coming talent and cultivates young experts who understand both technology and business, helping to equip the next generation of ICT leaders with the skills they need.

ICT Engineers for the Digital World

Huawei is now looking to expand the ICT Academy and give every nation the chance to take part. The number of applicants has skyrocketed since the first ICT Academy was founded three years ago, a testimony to the strong demand, which Huawei expects to continue to grow. Looking ahead, Huawei plans to bring the ICT Academy to more young people around the world to ensure that future ICT talent needs can be met.
