Huawei and SoftBank Partner on 5G Trials Both in High and Low Frequency Bands to Accelerate 5G Commercialization

2017.03.24

[Tokyo, Japan, March 24, 2017] Huawei announced that it will team up with SoftBank Corp., a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp. (TOKYO: 9984), (“SoftBank”) to validate end-to-end 5G communication systems using both high- and low-frequency bands as the two companies take a step closer to the commercialization of 5G service.

Huawei and SoftBank have continuously tested and improved the performance of their Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) communication and Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communication (uRLLC) in the low frequency bands (4GHz) using 5G New Radio (NR) since 2016. As the operator expands its efforts to drive 5G commercialization, the two companies will validate the performance of E2E systems in both high- and low-frequency bands under various use scenarios

Huawei has cooperated with SoftBank in promoting both R&D of 5G technologies and collaboration with industries with an aim to bring the next generation of mobile network service a reality and will support delivering 5G services that enable eMBB, uRLLC and Massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC) to even more users in the near future.
